SUMMARY:Overnight Cruise: Silver Glen and Salt Springs (up the St. John's River)
DESCRIPTION:Trip Captains:  Mac and Karen Holley \nIf you go by boat\, we suggest at least three nights and two full days because it’s a bit of a haul to get there.  Estimate 6-7 hours for big boats travelling 20-22 knots. So Thursday and Sunday would be largely travel days. \nPart of the intrigue to that area is going up into the springs (Silver Glen and Salt Springs) and a tour of the Oklawaha River.  The big boats can’t get in there\, so I we plan to rent a couple of pontoon boats for that part\, or if we have some others coming down in smaller boats (3 ft or less draft)\, they could give the others a ride. \nAccommodations: \nRenegades indicated they are installing finger docks on all four of their big boat slips.  Currently\, only one of the large boat slips is next to a dock where the boat riders can exit from the side of the boat.  For the other three large boat slips\, they currently have pilings but boats have to pull in bow or stern first and there is quite a step up to the dock from a typical swim platform level or step down from a bow – so not really functional for most boaters (accept for us young bucks).  With the new finger docks\, that will solve that problem making all four slips very usable. The general manager assured me that the new finger docks would be installed before October. \nThere are also 15 motel rooms at Porky’s Lodge Bar and Grill which is only a 5 minute drive from Renegades or about a 10 minute boat ride on the river.  This would give us good availability for those who want to drive down and / or not stay on their boat.  Porky’s can accommodate 2 large boats on their dock as well. \nIf we have more than 6 large boats interested in the trip\, for those large boats with dinghies\, they can anchor off Renegades and dinghy in.  Both Renegades and Porky’s cater to smaller boats with 7 ft or less beams (boats up to 22-23 feet.  Both have covered slips that folks can reserve for the smaller boats. \nIf anyone wants to trailer their boat down versus the long ride by water\, Renegades has a boat ramp and trailer storage for those staying there\, and there is a great public ramp very close to Porky’s and they have places to store trailers for those staying there. \nDining and entertainment: \nBoth Renegades and Porky’s have good restaurants.  Renegades tiki bar is fantastic and has great live music on Thursday through Sunday.  Porky’s has a good indoor bar as well as tables on an outside deck overlooking the river.

SUMMARY:First Mates Back-to-School Supply Drive
DESCRIPTION:First Mates is collecting donations for the annual Back-to-School Supply Drive!\n\nSee the message below from the Child Guidance Center and important details from Judy Ellis for First Mates in RED below.\n\n******************************************************************************************************’\n\nEvery year\, we sponsor the William G. Lockwood Memorial Fund Back-to-School Supply Drive\, where we give students a bag filled with the necessary items for returning to school.\n\nUnfortunately\, many children who come to us for help do not have the means to obtain school supplies on their own. Too often\, this results in the child having difficulties in school due to embarrassment\, low self-esteem\, and a lack of motivation to excel. Providing these supplies increases attendance\, academic performance\, and encouragement through promoting self-esteem.\n\nAll donations are needed by July 20\, 2026. This year\, we desperately need backpacks\, college and wide-ruled paper\, spiral notebooks\, and crayons. Many clients cannot afford pencils\, notebooks\, or a backpack. In-kind donations\, including items with business logos\, are greatly appreciated. If you prefer to make a financial donation\, here’s what your money will buy:\n\n$15 = school supplies for 3 Elementary or Middle School students\n$25 = Backpack with supplies for 2 High School students\n$50 = Backpack with supplies for 4 Elementary and 4 Middle\, or 7 High School students\n\nThis project solely depends on the generosity of the community in which these children live. Consider partnering with us in preparation for this year’s school supply drive!\nChild Guidance Center is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.\n******************************************************************************************************’\nDONATIONS ARE DUE TO JUDY ELLIS BY JULY 17 SO THAT SHE CAN DELIVER ON JULY 20.  You may bring donations to First Mates or drop off at Judy’s home at 13449 Troon Trace Lane under the portico.  If you have supplies\, Judy will have a couple of big boxes\, or you can drop them in the bag you bought them in.  If you have a cash or check donation\, Judy will have a small plastic box for you to drop the donation in.  Please make checks out to Child Guidance Center Foundation.   Thanks for your participation!

SUMMARY:Annual QH Docktails & Sunset Lagoon Cruise
DESCRIPTION:Annual QH Sunset Lagoon Cruise\nJoin fellow Queen’s Harbour Yacht Club members for a relaxed evening of docktails\, delicious bites\, great company\, and a sunset cruise on the lagoon. \nDate: Monday\, June 8\nTime: 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM \nHow It Works\nIf you’re new to the Lagoon Cruise\, here’s what to expect! \nMembers will gather on the Country Club patio at 5:30 PM. Although the Club is closed on Mondays\, they have graciously allowed us to use the patio for pre-cruise docktails and socializing. \nPlease bring an appetizer and a favorite bottle of wine or other beverage to share. A food sign-up link has been distributed by Judy Ellis to those who have signed up thus far. \nWe encourage members with boats to host fellow members who do not have a boat available for the evening. After about an hour of socializing\, the boats will begin arriving to load passengers for the cruise. \nTo make the evening more fun and help everyone get to know one another\, passengers are assigned to boats by a random drawing. It’s a great opportunity to meet members you may not otherwise have the chance to spend time with. \nFollowing our sunset cruise\, we’ll return to the marina around 8:00 PM and gather back at the patio to collect belongings\, visit a little longer\, and help tidy up before heading home. \nWhether you’re a longtime member or attending for the first time\, we hope you’ll join us for a relaxed evening on the water with friends\, food\, and beautiful views of Queen’s Harbour. \nPlease RSVP to Judy Ellis at jtwo73@hotmail.com.
