NIGHTS OF LIGHTS YOUTH OPTI REGATTA

The regatta will be governed by the “rules” as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1. Advertising
Boats may be requested to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. Advertising shall be restricted to ISAF Advertising Code
20.2.2, 20.2.3.
2. Eligibility and Entry
2.1 The regatta is open to Opti classes: Green, Red, White, & Blue.
2.2 Eligible boats may enter on December 15th prior to start of the regatta from 9am to 11am. Please provide payment by cash or check for entry fee,
complete a registration form and liability waiver and bring to the event.
3. Fees
3.1 Entry fee is $20.00 per sailor paid on December 15, 2018 prior to the skippers meeting in cash or check only.
3.2 Race boats are available for a charter fee. Reservation required in advance.

4. Schedule
4.1 Registration and Check in: Saturday, December 15, 2018 9:00am to 11:00am.
4.2 Skipper’s Meeting: Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11:00am.
4.3 First warning: Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11:55am, next race will be as soon as possible after last finisher.
4.4 No race will be started after 3pm hours.
4.5 Lunch will be brown bag, please bring your own. Snacks will be available at registration and pizza will be served after racing.
4.6 Saturday December 15, 2018 – After race activities will be held on the beach starting shortly after the last boat is off the water.
4.7 Awards as soon as possible after the last boat is off the water.
5. Sailing Instructions
The sailing instructions will be available at the registration table on the day of the regatta.
6. Venue
Launch vessels at St. Augustine Yacht Club/Lighthouse ramp. Regatta will be held in front of the Conch House Marina.
7. The Courses (according to conditions to of the day).
a. Windward- Leeward (1 or 2 laps)
b. Triangle
c. Modified Olympic
8. Protest
Decisions of the protest committee will be final as provided in RRS 70.5.
9. Scoring
9.1 One race is required to be completed to constitute a regatta.
9.2 When six races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her/his race scores excluding her/his worst score.
10. Radio Communication shall be on channel 72.
Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not
available to ALL boats.
11. Prizes (based on number of participants)
Opti Red: 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Opti White: 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Opti Blue: 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Opti Green: Participation
12. Disclaimer of Liability:
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority shall not accept any liability for
material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
